I am currently in my eleventh year of teaching, all done at DeWitt Public Schools. DeWitt is a small suburb of Lansing that is located just northwest the intersection of US 127 and I-69. I recently moved to the town I teach in, eliminating my daily hour and forty minute commute. Before being hired by DeWitt, I received my bachelor's degree in 2002 from Michigan State University. Since then I have taught in a variety of classroom models: traditional, single gender, looping and team teaching. Those models of instruction were all done in 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade classrooms. I currently team teach in a co-taught classroom. That translates to 58 fourth graders and two teachers, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
When I am not teaching I like to be with my husband of seven years and our two young children. If I had free time outside of being a working mom, I would be reading a good book, watching MSU sports (GO GREEN!) or being outside. But, that doesn't happen too often. Except for the MSU sports thing. I always seem to make time for that.
